Training starts with a review of what your team already knows, your company culture, and the systems you employ. We will guide you through the many systems, materials, and performance testing involved in Green design and construction. We will teach you how to incorporate Green strategies into your current building style and how to adapt Green into your company culture. It is highly advised that your subcontractors and industry partners are included in training so that systems and products are specified and installed correctly. Additional training and updates can be developed based on your company's need over time.
Open Air Concepts, a full-service remodeling company in Montrose, MN, sought assistance from Verified Green to renovate a historic home with the intent of certifying it as Green. They had complete architectural plans and city approvals when they presented their project to Verified Green. The initial focus was an evaluation of the proposed design plans and construction specifications for energy efficiency and the ability of the proposed changes to meet the requirements for Energy Star – a mandatory step in the LEED for Homes program. Verified Green also reviewed opportunities for LEED certification by addressing minor design and landscaping changes that could be integrated into the plans, meet homeowner goals and budget, and address the requirements for certification.
To facilitate efficiency in educating staff and trade partners, Verified Green presented a half-day Green building training to twelve key members of the contractor’s construction team. The presentation was geared towards introducing the basic tenets of Green building and the role of each employee/sub-contractor in the process of achieving certification. Verified Green also assisted the contractor throughout the construction process to ensure mandatory measures were completed, optional credits had required documentation, performance testing was scheduled appropriately, the checklist was completed, and fees paid accordingly. Open Air was able to provide the homeowners with a fully renovated silver-level LEED home with energy efficiency rated better than standard new construction in Minnesota.
Working with Cindy and Michael was a great experience, their combined knowledge of green building and green building programs is unparalelled. If you truly want to build green you need to work with Verified Green.

The 120 year old iconic Shaw/Stewart Lumber Company has a progressive client base of residential and commercial customers interested in Green building and company core values that include professionalism, quality, teamwork, customer focus, financial responsibility and stewardship – values that are consistent with Green building and remodeling. They had already begun the process of becoming a leader in the lumber industry by becoming Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. To compliment their growing knowledge base of Green building, they sought the assistance of Verified Green to provide Green education to their sales team.
Verified Green developed and delivered a series of trainings on the LEED for Homes and MN GreenStar Certification for Green Homes & Remodeling programs to provide a basic understanding of program mechanics and to highlight the areas of the programs where company products and services fit within the respective programs - their goal being to efficiently and effectively enhance their clients’ experience with Green building and remodeling as a result of their interaction with the sales team at Shaw/Stewart.
As a result of the trainings provided by Verified Green, our sales team is better equipped to assist our clients through the LEED and GreenStar programs with valuable product and process information.
