Julkowski, Inc. is a design/build company in Lexington, MN. Their core business focus had been remodeling until they decided to add custom Green homes to their portfolio. While they had limited knowledge of Green building, they were firm in their belief that a builder with Green knowledge would be well positioned to handle the needs of the community into the future. They also had a strong belief in the quality of their product and service and felt poised to address the requirements of Green.

Julkowski, Inc hired Verified Green prior to programming and design of their first home- allowing them the opportunity to integrate Green into design strategies, product selections, and construction systems. Verified Green took on the leadership role of teaching the philosophy of the LEED for Homes program, the mechanics of the checklist system, the requirement for meeting prerequisites, balancing optional credits across the key Green strategies, the process of home performance testing, and how to document the process. Verified Green consulted with Julkowski, Inc. throughout the building process to ensure that documentation and verification happened in a timely fashion consistent with the requirements of the program. Their first new home was awarded a silver-level LEED for Homes certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
