Verified Green and its associates have actively participated in the creation of many of the top Green building programs in the country. Our roles were varied and included research, technical writing of educational support manuals, program development, organizational development, marketing and promotion, stakeholder and sponsorship development, and development and delivery of training for:
Michael Anschel served as the leader of the Green Remodeling Group that crafted MN GreenStar. He steered them through research, development, and writing of the checklists and manuals to address the code, climate, and cultural needs of MN residents during new construction and remodeling projects. Cindy Ojczyk was a key member of GRG and one of the principle authors of the checklists and manuals.
Minnesota GreenStar is a progressive Green building and remodeling program that was designed to produce high performing new homes and remodels in cold climates. As a comprehensive Green building program, this third-party certified rating tool requires a new home or remodel to address the five key strategies of Green building: energy, water, and resource efficiency, site and community impact, indoor environmental quality. It also requires documentation in order to measure the effectiveness of the program to create environmental change.
One mandatory measure of the program is a requirement that the key person in charge of the construction (general contractor or homeowner) attend an 8-hour training prior to registering a project in the program in order to understand the mechanics of the program, documentation processes, and the comprehensive computer program. MN GreenStar sought the expertise of Verified Green to develop the goals for the training program, to create the outline required by the Department of Labor and Industry for securing contractor continuing education credits, and to develop the 8-hour presentation and accompanying handouts. Verified Green also provided the training during the year that the newly formed non-profit was becoming established.
Verified Green’s knowledge of MN GreenStar and their respective experience as active Green design and building professionals provided real-life experience and practical application important for credibility and believability of this new program and its requirements.
