Carl Seville molded his passion for Green building from many years in the remodeling industry. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Carl founded Atlanta-based design/build firm SawHorse, Inc. and served as its Vice President for over 25 years. In 2005, Carl left SawHorse in the hands of his former business partner and focused his attention on Green building after his growing involvement with EarthCraft House and Southface Energy Institute, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to Green building and living. Carl now dedicates his time to creating a bridge between the theory of Green building and its real-life applications through teaching and speaking engagements, and consulting with homeowners and building professionals to assist them in making their projects more sustainable. In his words: "This (Green) is the future of residential construction and renovation."
Seville has been the recipient of numerous awards since the start of his career, including: the 2004 & 2006 Green Remodeling Project of the Year and the 2005 & 2007 Green Remodeling Advocate of the Year from NAHB, the 2006 EarthCraft House Leadership Award, and multiple Excellence in Design Awards from Environmental Design and Construction magazine.
He has served on more than a dozen local, state, regional and national committees and boards, including: State of Georgia, Governor's Energy Policy Council; National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Green Building Subcommittee and Green Education Curriculum Committee; NARI, Green Remodeling Education Committee; and the Public-Private Partnership for Advancing Housing Technology (PATH), Green Remodeling Technical Advisory Panel.
